Additional History: During a routine training mission with the Rangers, Cordelia came across a strange, robed man at the Forest Shrine. Remembering only his name (Robin), she took him back to Union to seek medical attention, she offered him a room until he could either find someone who knew who he was, or manage on his own two feet. It was during that time that the two would form a strongS-class bond, working together with the Rangers. The two were married within a year of their meeting.
Still, something nagged at Cordelia that she could not ignore. The events that led to her resignation from the Swords of the Savior still hung heavy on her shoulders, and she wished to be able to move on. More, she missed her time with the Swords, longing for the comradery that she felt while serving under their employ. Finding herself unable to stay away, Cordelia took a position as a warrant officer, working to train new cadets within the Swords of the Savior.
Much of what she has been doing since dropping her is simply that: working, tirelessly. Spending time with both the Rangers and their cavalry unit, as well as with the Swords of the Savior, she has had little time for much else. Despite her mother's pestering for grandchildren, she has stayed steadfast against giving up her career just yet, and likely will for the unforeseeable future.

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Cordelia
Character Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
History: Here
AU History:
- Cordelia is the only daughter to Dalton and Ilya Chevalier, a noble family residing within Union. Drawing from a long line of soldiers, the Chevalier family has served the Sword of the Savior since early into its inception; her father would be no different. Acting as a tactical adviser, he gained renown through his actions, his leadership and his ability with a sword despite being a seemingly Unenlightened human.
As their only daughter, Cordelia was groomed to follow in her father's footsteps as a member of the Swords, and, with rather large shoes to fill, did so in stride. At a very early age, she excelled in her studies as well as her ability to fight, despite her Enlightened abilities not manifesting. This was not all-together surprising in the least, as both her father and mother not an Enlightened. Showing great aptitude, and considering her familial background, she was placed on the fast track toward becoming a Sword, and, at the age of fourteen, joined their ranks.
She found quickly, however, that while she had a great desire to protect the people within Union, more and more she wished to know what the world outside those walls were like. It was because of this that, in her off time, Cordelia began volunteering her services to the Rangers, acting as further protection for groups venturing outside of Union, and began to appreciate the beauty of a world beyond the towers and walls.
However, while acting as a body guard to a small group, tragedy struck in the form of a wild pokemon attack. Most of their group devastated by a very sudden and brutal attack, and most of the group lost their lives. Cordelia did what she could to defend against it, ready to lay down her life for the safety of others, but instead was saved both by another bodyguard as well as a sudden awakening of Enlightened powers. While their group was not completely devastated, this is a bit of guilt that she holds with her even still.
Feeling herself unworthy to continue as a Sword of the Savior if she was unable to prevent such tragedy, she instead stepped down from her position, taking up unofficial work with the Rangers, despite her family's best wishes. It was through this separation of what she felt was expected from her that led her to, once she turned eighteen, seek her own space, living away from the Chevalier estate in a modest flat. Taking on odd jobs to help supplement rent, she was urged by her ranger peers to take on a full position, one that she still debates she is unworthy of filling.
This, however, opened her world up further, part of her assignment involving caring for the flying types in the stables. Taking naturally to them, after a year of working in the stables, she requested she be transferred specifically to the flying type division, especially given her dual typing. This is where she has managed to happily settle.
Canon Personality:
- Duty. Honor. Integrity. Devotion. Pride.
These make up the outer core of Cordelia's being. A duty to her country and to its future king. A sense of honor for what she does and who she serves Integrity of self and the expectation that others were hold themselves in the same regard. Unyielding devotion to those who fight under the same banner, for the same purpose of peace. And pride in what she does to the point of separation in some respects.
As a Pegasus Knight fighting for peace under the banner of Ylisse, there is a certain standard that she upholds for herself, to the point of perfection. She expects only the best from herself and will accept nothing short of that, no matter what the circumstance. Battle? She'll be the strongest, the most dedicated spear woman in her troupe. Preparation? You better believe she's up at early hours getting supplies in place for herself and others, sharpening her spear and making sure that she is ready for whatever may come her way. Truly, she is a woman that makes sure she is ready to approach any and everything at her best, as she knows that this is what is expected of her, both by herself and by her peers. In many ways, however, this can seen as her being haughty, full of herself or, in more extreme cases, arrogant. However, this is furthest from the truth; it is through striving for perfection within herself that she can properly provide for those under her wing. She holds a great amount of guilt for the deaths of her comrades, and while she does not often speak about it, it drives a lot of her actions, and is a dark shadow that hovers over her.
Cordelia leaves nothing to chance, and because of this can be somewhat dismissive of those who rely heavily upon luck. This is often a point of contention between her and her best friend and fellow Pegasus Knight, Sumia. While she opts to rely upon horoscopes, flowers and other methods to determine her fate, Cordelia bets upon what is tried and true, and that is personal results.
That isn't to say that she is without her flights of fancy. Cordelia does have her own guilty pleasure, while she does her best to hide it. The redhead is not always serious, and behind closed doors, she is a closet romance novel fanatic, and is very, VERY concerned with other people's love lives. Perhaps it is a bit of escapism from her one-sided love for the man that would one day rule Ylisse, who only looks upon her as a knight and not the woman that she wishes to be. She has come to terms with it in many ways, although it does take some of her in-game supports to finally realize that she can finally move on. Not particularly outwardly feminine, this may too be a way that she shows herself that she is more than just a knight.
Despite being fairly serious, she can have a bit of a sillier, more laid back side, however, this bit of her personality is reserved to those she knows well enough to be comfortable around. This often takes time, and her since of humor may be a bit... awkward, if you could really call it humor. She takes things quite a bit literally, but still tries to keep things light at times, which make for some "interesting" conversations.
Cordelia is, in so many ways, the woman that she puts herself out to be.
AU Deviation:
- Deviations from canon are pretty big in some ways, the largest one being that Chrom was never a part of her life, and, more importantly, Ylisse does not exist in-universe. As a pegasus knight serving the kingdom of Ylisse, Cordelia had a very strong sense of duty, and while this much is true of this AU iteration--Cordelia does have a deep sense of duty to the protection of the people of Union--with it is a different sense of obligation; one to be able to live up to the shadow of her father. This manifests itself through her inability to accept anything but perfection on her own part, and to be what she believes others feel she can be, striving to be an inspiration to others through her actions and demeanor.
As such, the declarations of her being a "genius," "perfect," and the like are in many ways self-perpetuated, and while she still insists that others not make such a big deal of her accomplishments (wishing for them to take example, instead of placing her on such a tall pedestal), she still thrives on them somewhat, and perhaps in some ways her dismissing such praise is a bit of lip service. She is not vain by any stretch, but, rather, instead of spending time talking up her accomplishments, she wishes that others would instead strive for the same sense of perfection and esteem in what they themselves do.
Most of her other deviations are simply notes and flavor pieces that have been added in order to make her characterization make more sense in-setting. In her supports in-game, she isn't seen as being particularly feminine--a contrast to the other Pegasus Knight and friend of hers, Sumia. In AU, this will be staying the same, but instead reinforced by her height and appearance, often making her the "guy" at social get-togethers when she was younger, as well as the drive to be, in some ways, like her father. She does have a bit of a hidden complex about this (again touched on a little in some of the extra stage dialogue, but not really explored), although does her best to not outwardly state it.
Canon Abilities:
- Cordelia, much like the rest of the cast of Fire Emblem: Awakening, has the capability to go into multiple classes. Cordelia is able to go into four different class trees: Pegasus Knight, Mercenary, Dark Mage and Bride. Through these base classes, Cordelia is able to class up into the following classes: Falcon Knight and Dark Flier (through Pegasus Knight); Hero and Bow Knight (through Mercenary); Sorcerer and Dark Knight (through Dark Mage).
For AUing purposes, I'll be focusing on Mercenary, Pegasus Knight and Dark Flier.
Enlightened Abilities:
- Cordelia is a Mastery of Battle Enlightened, with the Flying/Fighting typing. For all intents and purposes, her flying typing will be latent as far as abilities are concerned, at least before her first evolution. A spear fighter, much of her Enlightened ability will be rather subdued, making her a slightly tougher than normal on foot figther. As she levels, her evasion will slowly start to tick upward. While she will have no access to Flying type moves, Cordelia will be able to learn Focus Blast, Revenge and Sky Uppercut
Upon first evolution, she will see little physical change--small wings appear behind her ears, and her body becomes a bit more lithe and agile. Her Flying type ability will become more prevalent, and she will gain access to a few perks pertaining to that. She'll gain a rather large speed boost (ala Agility), Aerial Ace and, around level 45, Cordelia will be given access to Roost.
Upon her final evolution, Cordelia will be see a sharp spike in her overall stats. She will be given access to the Flying type attacks Tailwind, Brave Bird, Extreme Speed and, finally, Aeroblast. She will also be given access to Super Power and Aura Sphere. Gaining a severe speed boost, at times it may seem that she is able to attack multiple targets at the same time.
Starter Pokémon: A Houndour and Pidgey.
Notes/Special Considerations:
- With this re-app, a few things have been retooled and retconned in her application to better fit the character. Cordelia has lost the God of War ability, which has been swapped for Mastery of Battle. As such, her final typing has changed to Flying/Fighting, as opposed to Dark/Flying/Fighting. There was also a clerical error in her roster which I have since remedied (the Pokémon in question will be brought in at level 12, since this was my error).

Third-Person:
- What do you feel your role in Union is?
A protector perhaps? Oh, but that isn't quite right anymore, is it? Although there are still those people who look up to me. A confidante, then? It's hard to say.
What do you seek for humanity’s future?
Peace, to be put quite simply, and understanding between humans and Pokémon. I believe that it can be achieved everywhere, as seen with those living in Union. If we are to avoid another tragedy, we need to work hard toward this goal.
To what lengths would you go to rescue your allies if they were lost in the wilderness?
There is nothing that I would not do to see to it that they return safely. Nothing.
What would you say the most important occupation is within Union?
There is no one most important role within our city, much like there is no one true way to live. Every little thing that is done has its place and importance, and taking anything away from that would do a disservice to what we strive to be as a city.
What does the story of the Savior mean to you?
It's beautiful, and inspirational to me. That one person could have so much courage to give her life so that others could continue to live is awe-inspiring.
What aspects and traits do you respect most in your individual fellow man?
The desire to become the best that they can be, in any way that they can. Or, failing that, moving toward achieving that goal. True strength--not one that can be seen through brute force, but strength of spirit, mind, and soul--knows many forms, and is different for everyone. There is no limit to what a person or Pokémon is capable of doing, when they put their mind to it.
